Substance Abuse treatment programme
Recovery for life

Getting to the heart of problem though our holistic approach

Clinical Standard Drug Addiction Treatment

A programme for life

No matter how long you’ve been addicted to drugs, whether you’ve been dependent on something for a year or ten years, you will need treatment that bends to your needs and circumstances.

Substance abuse treatment at Clarity

At Clarity we know that while you need personalised and compassionate treatment, you will also need it to be structured and effective in its planning. We can provide both of those things for you to achieve a happy medium in treatment and therefore get the kind of personal treatment you need to overcome your addiction.

The first thing you must do, however, is admit to yourself and those around you that you have a problem you cannot solve, control, or overcome on your own. You must first commit yourself fully to treatment. After you fully come to terms with your condition, you will need to go through withdrawal in our onsite drug detox clinic where you will receive 24 hour nursing care in one of our comfortable detox suites.

While your body goes through the process of expelling the harmful chemicals that keep you dependent upon your drug of choice, you will go through some unpleasant side effects. To make sure this process goes as smoothly as possible we need to monitor your progress throughout so that it is as safe, comfortable, and efficient as it can be. After you get through detox and all the chemicals are out of your body, you will go through individual and group therapy to begin working on your long-term healing and recovery.

A range of serious challenges

Co-occurring disorders can pose multiple, often serious challenges for the people who have them, as well as for their loved ones. For recovery, not only is an accurate diagnosis required, but so is the help of professionals with the right expertise to address them simultaneously. Without concurrent stabilization, addiction recovery becomes very complicated, and sadly, impossible for many. An unresolved co-existing disorder will sabotage any recovery effort. We are pleased to have a team of professionals at Clarity that is highly skilled and well-experienced in providing the appropriate care for co-occurring disorders.

A synergy of symptoms

Synergy occurs when parts of a phenomenon interact to create a more forceful energy than each part separately can. Co-occurring disorders can be tragic examples of this. For instance, one’s depression may be manageable and not immediately dangerous, but can ‘combine forces’ with substance use to create psychosis or suicidality.

The synergistic effects of co-occurring disorders can be very specific—depending upon what type of mental health condition is present, how severe it is, what type of substances are used and how they are used. Symptoms of both amplify and trigger the other, leading to complicated sets of symptoms that are difficult to diagnose and manage. It is not uncommon for psychiatric emergencies to occur when the two disorders are active. Mutual triggering can result in such clinical issues as depression, anxiety, panic, behavioural disorganization, hallucinations, delusions, mania, suicidality, anger and aggression.

Misdiagnosis and masquerade

Unfortunately, people with co-occurring conditions not only suffer immensely, but encounter profound obstacles when seeking help. Their symptoms are often attributed to the wrong cause, for example. Symptoms of addiction can look like other mental health conditions and the reverse is true as well. The result of this ‘symptom masquerade’ is that the true problem goes undiagnosed and untreated. Left unresolved, either ‘partner’ in a set of co-existing conditions will undermine efforts made to manage the other.

A Long Journey for Help

Diagnostic difficulties are just one problem that people with co-occurring disorders encounter. Theirs can be a long, arduous and unsuccessful search for relief that is eventually fraught with hopelessness and the temptation to give up recovery efforts altogether. Many, for example, have gone multiple times to excellent facilities with highly- skilled staff only to return to their addictions. Somehow, they fell through the cracks of the programmes they may have already attended.

There is hope

We are very fortunate here at Clarity to have found a holistic, science-based understanding of both addiction and mental health problems.

We know that the two always go hand in hand and that they must be aggressively addressed at the same time, in the same recovery programme, and by the same professional staff. Consequently, we have sealed up many of those clinical cracks that have left so many individuals and their families in despair. No matter how many times you have tried before, and no matter how hopeless you feel about your situation, or that of a loved one, you need to know that there are cutting edge methods that have become our routine that you may not have encountered before.

Our comprehensive, integrated and holistic 3 Stage Programme is exactly what such clients need. Clarity’s treatment allows clients to leave us equipped with a sustainable programme for sobriety and mental health. This experience, and our ongoing monitoring of applicable new science, leads us to firmly believe that there is always hope for recovery, no matter how much you have become convinced otherwise.

Our mission:
To provide you with long lasting recovery

At Clarity, we have a passion for helping you achieve long term recovery. Most of our team are in recovery themselves, so our drive is inspired by our own lived experience. Your recovery is our priority.

Our solution: full, sustainable recovery

Clarity’s 3–Stage Integrative DBT programme offers you a non-12 Step, holistic substance use recovery programme addressing the reasons you have not been able to live drug-free. We work with you to heal the underlying causes of addiction and to remedy the drug and alcohol-induced effects that lead to relapse. In doing so, we offer you a full and sustainable recovery.

We provide:

Our staff to client ratio is only 4:1—virtually unheard of in addiction recovery. This gives you highly individualized care with far more clinical contact hours than the majority of addiction recovery centres provide. Additionally, individual sessions account for a large part of your sessions and you will see two therapists per day on average.

We work with no more than 20 clients at a time. This allows us to give you intensive and individualised attention in a highly private luxury setting. It also evokes feelings of trust and connection to the staff and other clients, giving you the support and psychological safety you need to be successful.

We have assembled a team of highly skilled practitioners who are well respected in their fields. They have expertise in many disciplines including nutrition, bodywork, Trauma Release Exercise (TRE), Mindfulness Based Stress Relief, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Thai Buddhist Meditation, Functional Medicine, psychology and psychiatry. They work together to understand you and your needs holistically. They establish an ever-evolving treatment plan that is modified each and every day as you progress and your needs change.
We help you identify and address the underlying root causes of your alcohol addiction. These may be unresolved trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, codependency or feelings of emptiness, betrayal or abandonment, for example.

As you go through our programme, you learn techniques and skills that become a way of life so that you can sustain a full recovery. Relapse is no longer an issue when you heal at the deep level of root causes; you won’t need drugs or alcohol to feel better anymore. You experience a fundamental shift in the neural pathways of the brain that brings about deep and sustainable transformation. You become empowered, enlivened and free of your addiction—feeling connected to others and the world again. With this fundamental and healing shift, passion, a sense of purpose and meaning return. Employing the practices you learn with us, you can continue a full and sustainable recovery.
